Receiving our 2024 ballots is an opportunity to consider what voting means and how we can demonstrate our values by completing and submitting our ballots by November 5.
If we are honest about American History and where we are today, there are more reasons to celebrate than to despair, more reasons to be optimistic than pessimistic about our future. We have more opportunities to create a new, equal, and vibrant society now than we have ever had.
These opportunities begin with a simple act, an act that has sustained this nation for nearly two hundred and fifty years. They begin at the ballot box, with people voting to decide who will represent them.
The Clear Creek Democrat’s Voter Guide contains CCD’s recommendations about the candidates and measures on the ballot. Of course, we hope that the voters in Clear Creek County agree with our recommendations. But even if you don’t agree with these recommendations, it is important that we all vote. By voting, we enact our values. We make a positive statement about what we believe and how we choose to be governed.
We, as Americans, are engaged in an audacious experiment of self-governance. This election is another opportunity to prove to the world and ourselves that we are capable of deciding the type of county, state, and nation we will be.
